Today I basically won Tomba! - there's one optional event left, according to the FAQ I used, but it seems to take a random amount of time to finish off. And I have defeated the final boss. Then I went out to the cafe and hung out with Nick while I drew... stuff.

Including Muppets.

But I'll start with a Tarot card. The one on the left is probably going to be redone - it's a kinda superheroey version of the 8 of Discs. Except I intend for Wands to be where all the Kirby goes. Oops. That one's been sitting in the sketchbook for a while. The one on the right is the 10 of Swords, from today. The sheathed sword on the ground may be replaced by one in the air above her, that was hanging from a threadbare rope until about .1 second before the image, and is now beginning to fall.

This is some stuff for [livejournal.com profile] doctorpinkerton. The one on the left is intended to be a holographic avatar of a computer.

Sketch for a project [livejournal.com profile] tugrik is playing with.

Some simple costuming notes for an old friend from animation school.

Nick was flipping through some tabs on his browser and one of them had Statler and Waldorf on it. I drew a weird take on... um... which one is the pointier one? and it sort of spiraled from there into a general 'realistic/cynical Muppet revisions' thing. I think you can guess who's who for most of these.

PS. 'big bacon woman'

Nick was throwing out ideas and I was doodling around them; his main idea for explaining these drawings is that these versions are to the cleaned-up, Disney-processed Muppets of now as the Skeksis were to the U-Ru: these are the flaws that were processed out, given shape and form. Kermit's doing completely opaque high-concept theatre, strung out on designer flies. Fozzie has found that his comedic incompetence is really more of an asset than anything else in Hollywood; he has a talk show in which he utters 'Wokka Wokka' at least twice every night. Top: Gonzo's performance art ensemble, the 'Blue Bird Group'. Not really horrible enough; Gonzo is, after all, a sad, lonely man who will do anything for attention. Preferably something painful, involving a chicken.

Animal really bulked up.

After the tragic death of Janice, Dr. Teeth retired. He still plays piano now and then despite the advancing arthritis. (And this drawing is really more a vague spin on Dr. John than Dr. Teeth - but then again, Dr. Teeth owes more than a little of his presentation and manner to Dr. John's 1970s stage persona, so hey.)

also there was a drawing of old, senile, crippled Dr. Bunsen Honeydew stuck in his wheelchair, and Beaker, whose job slowly shifted from 'hapless lab assistant' to 'hapless caretaker', but it seems to have been missed in the scanning...
