sketchbook: further confusion
Jan. 30th, 2007 03:57 pmThis is "highlights" of stuff I drew on the trip to California. This little sketchbook started new the day of the trip and got half-filled by the time I got on the plane back. Admittedly there's a lot of horrible scribbly crap, what with episodes of drunkenness, and notes on the whole artist alley thing. But still.

While I doubt I'll do anything with this sketch, I like her dress. A lot. Gotta use it in something else sometime.

The first night I ended up getting given a screwdriver mixed by
prickvixen. Shortly afterwards I think someone must have said "Draw me a yiffy vixen, Peggy!".
This is always a bad idea. The only yiffy vixens I draw with that prompting are the defective ones.

In the hotel lobby, the natural prey of the fursuiter is the guy with the video camera and the comb-over.

"Drunk bird thing" as in "bird thing I drew when I was drunk", not "bird thing that is drunk". This made me laugh for a lot longer than it really should have.

I think this was doodled on the second day. I'm not sure. Yes, there's other stuff in pencil beneath the pen doodling.

This is one of the few drawings I've done of Peganthyrus in recent memory where she's actually acknowledging the viewer. I noticed that a while back.

"...I guess I draw mostly in a mix of Walt Kelly and Matt Groening." -

"*evil chortle* *draw in the nearest sketchbook*" - me
(sorry I never got ahold of your Joe/Raine book!)

Doodling on the hotel notepad with the hotel pen. The Doubletree logo looked just enough like a butt that I had to ruin it!

This is what I did in
kaputotter's sketchbook. The theme was "grrls" and the only instruction was 'try to stick to mammals'. Which I guess explains the raccoon in a cobra fursuit.

I think this was warm-up for what I did in
athelind's sketchbook. Just playing around with the general topic, to loosen up.

I know this was the initial rough for what I did in
jirris_midvale's sketchbook.

I think this was stuff done on the last day of the con, sitting around and not quite chatting. Slightly drunk but not enough to really fuck up my drawing. Chunky antelope!

Probably yet another self-portrait.
I really ought to doodle with this kind of pen more; it somehow doesn't seem to preclude underdrawing like some other pens do for me.

Based on an image in
kinkyturtle's sketchbooks.

Pretty much the last thing I drew before packing up and going to
paka and
perlandria's place to crash for the night. I dunno, I just looked at the marker and the white pencil in my little art box, filled most of the page with black, then doodled randomly in white.
If I drew stuff in your sketchbook I'd love to have a scan. Especially the things that made me make wisecracks about a "really complicated character" surcharge next con. Don't worry about stitching it together if it's bigger than your scanner bed; just send me several scans with an inch or so of overlap. I've gotten pretty good at stitching scans over the years.
Addendum:
mutleyjames took one of the insane drunken sketches in this post and finished it. It is even more magically retarded than my original drawing, and that's a good thing!
Also,
kinkyturtle posted a link to the image that inspired the tub-spider. Yay collaboration!

Needless to say, mine didn't come out quite so elegantly.

Date: 2007-01-31 10:06 pm (UTC)I'd never noticed the logo like this before. I was just sitting there with a pad and it kinda... happened. But now I don't think I'll ever see it as anything much else.

As I recall, your reaction was, "Awwww, what a cute spider!"
