I find myself in possession of a hand-me-down Gameboy Advance. It came with a handful of GBA and GB carts - most notably Treasure's Gunstar Super Heroes

I really know jack shit about the software for handhelds, and don't really know much about the catalogs of Nintendo machines either - I think the main reason I've ever gotten their hardware has been to run various system-exclusive Treasure games, because I am a fangirl of their work.

So, dear Internet: What is (a) awesome fun and/or (b) good for playing in short bursts, like "waiting in line at the grocery store"? Mostly I like shmups and platformers over abstract puzzle games; adventures are generally good too, although with the short attention span use-case that the machine seems to invoke in me, they had better not have an annoying scarce save-point thing going on.

Also if anyone knows which flash carts can be written to by a Mac that would be pretty useful. *grin*

Yeah, that works. Amusingly enough, a little research tells me that the iPhone's screen is exactly the same size in pixels as the c64's, if you adjust for square pixels instead of squishy NTSC/PAL ones - 320x200 vs. 320x240. So I'm trying to make sure these guys read at pretty much the same size as the original c64 sprites: 24x21 pixels. These are about twice that, to actually be visible on a modern high-res screen, and of course I'm working vector so they can be whatever size. But they'll read way down there in the tiny sizes.

edit: No, it's actually bigger in pixels than the c64, I must've been half-asleep when I did the quick research this morning. But still, tiny screen, these guys need to be pretty bold graphic statements!

Now to get off my butt and animate 'em. Yesterday all I did was lie around and wait for that cold to clear up.
