9 of Wands

Material gain. Compounding of interest. Power begets power.

I was going to have arcane symbols like the formula for compound interest written on the sticks in the pond, but I couldn't think of anything besides that. Maybe when I revise this for the final deck I'll do that. This one changed a lot from the original sketch; my intent was for this to be inside, and I didn't mean for her to look like Laurie Anderson, either!

In general, the Wands have been the hardest suit for me to do - this is why they're the only number cards that are left. The themes of material gain just don't really click with me. And green is a tough color to work with, monochromatically. I've only got three of them left to do for the show and I'm really not looking forwards to them.

When I go in to the Museum of Science, I sit at a machine with two flatscreen monitors. Pretty decent sized ones, probably about 21".

The thing I've noticed is that I find myself concentrating pretty much all my work on one monitor. There's a seam right in the center if I try to think of them as one giant monitor. And when I stick what I'm focusing on into one screen, the keyboard and tablet inevitably get shoved in front of that screen.

Every time I see multiple monitors discussed they're always hailed as a productivity booster, but honestly, I find that they waste time: I lose track of where stuff is on the screens, palettes wander away from where I expect them to be on to the other screen, I waste time trying to convince them to both have the same color profile (which they refuse to despite being nearly identical screens); I end up sitting at a weird angle and start hurting somewhere along my spine.

I'd really rather just have one of them.

Am I alone in this? Does everyone else who uses two screens just love them to pieces, as seems to be the accepted wisdom?
