It seems to be the done thing this year. Whatcha gonna be doing at the con, what're your Limits?

I'll be at Further Confusion. How to recognize me? Look, I have screaming pink hair, cut to about jaw-length. If you can't recognize me, you're blind. My badge will probably say "Egypt Urnash" on it. Mostly I respond to "Peggy". People using my legal name will be stared at; I'll probably ask what lengths you went to to dig it up.

fastest give-up ever

So last night we had pizza over at Jeff and Dascha's place. A friend of theirs staying over for FC ended up looking at some of my art (because costumes came up, and I showed my photos, and one thing led to another) said that she thought I'd love American McGee's Alice, design-wise.

Dascha had it. For the Mac. And had won it on every level. So I shrugged, and borrowed it.

Bother, the patch says it adds joystick support, but it doesn't work for me. And, um, my entire experience with FPS control schemes is playing Doom and Doom2 years back when they were hot and new.

You know something's wrong with a game when you go looking for a cheat code about 1/10 of the way into it.It could've been fun if it, like, worked like the platformer it is instead of the Quake clone it's written by fans of. Getting my butt repeatedly kicked by fast-flying screaming... things... on easy mode fills me full of hatred. But so does trying to make my left hand think enough to translate "go forwards" into "push W" while my right hand tries to wield the mouse.

Now I get to see if it's actually amusing, after turning on god mode.

Has my tolerance for fighting a game dropped to nothing, or is it just that these sorts of controls are utterly alien to me?

(PS. Hitting ESC to pause a game, and going back to the title screen? Is this normal for PC games/ That's so bizarre. ESC means QUIT, not pause!)
