the talent was spread too thin and new talent was scarce.

I have to wonder about that statement, considering how difficult it is to find work in the industry, and how many good artists are either underemployed or working in a different field altogether.

Or could the statement be amended to "we couldn't find new talent who was willing to work dirt cheap and stay up all night (and work on the weekends) with no overtime?"
