Saw Shaun of the Dead tonight.

Zombie movie as allegory: title character stumbling through his daily grind, not noticing the looming horror all around him. As much a zombie, the filmmaker's obvious intent is to say, in his own unlife as the undead around him. And then he wakes up to Real Life and the second act starts. And at the end, a return to zombiehood? Maybe. So easy to go back to routine and unlife. But I bring my own worries and metaphors to my reading of anything, don't I?

Amusing, if heavy-handed at times. Some cute bits of comedic foreshadowing; I'll refrain from spoiling the gags. Also, I was amused to see an Amon Tobin poster on the wall of the lead character's apartment. Yay.

Art and stuff soon, methinks: a couple of days of beating on freelance Flash are over until they toss me a new load.

addendum: also, at dinner beforehand, there was an amusing moment where Stacey, Sammi, and myself were eating dessert quite... suggestively... in front of Stacey's friend whose name I am completely blanked on at this moment. It's quite unclear who the sultry ingestion of whipped cream and gelato was aimed at, if anyone in particular. But three women all doing this is rather a squirm-inducing sight...
