( from my notebook, Sunday )

We're driving across Mississippi. It's all lovely rolling hills, with forests here and there.

Except for where the kudzu has taken hold.

It's made its own strange hills. It's climbed up trees and smothered them. The shapes are... wrong. Alien. It's like something Lovecraft would fail to describe.

There's a certain weird beauty to it, but it's so sickening to realize that everything under that kudzuscape is dead.

Yeah - It's kind of like the Chain Store of plants.

Since I hadn't really seen Kudzu, I went and google searched for some images of it.

What the internet doesn't give one is a sense of scale. That vaguely rectangular object in the middle is a HOUSE. There are some nicely creepy images of kudzu but... Being me, I have to interject a little bit of Gendarr the Barbariann into it.

Mmmmm! Kudzu recipies! I didn't know you could eat it!

Now I'm going to have to make a trip to the south just to eat Nutria stuffed with Kudzu.

Well, to quote a friend about the reason for some gourmet delicacies, "When you're hungry enough, anything is food." ;;p

And that's a pretty cool picture. Glad the kudzu isn't that bad around here...

Hee hee hee! Thanks, that's my laugh of the day.

Sammi's kudzu-dolma link is droolsome.

Me, I'm wondering how the numbers for carbon dioxide absorption work out, and , if they're good, whether it'd be possible or a good idea to cover a desert with that stuff.

I've been morbidly reading Katrina news all day and trying to remember where your house is. Miss you and love you.

Kudzu...

...is what H.G. Wells probably would have called "The Red Weed". It's remarkably similar in many ways. "Crawling... crawling..."
